Platts holds the Senior World Record in the javelin Men 80-84 Division with a mark of 128’ 02.00” set in 2008. His throw of 107-10 exceeded the current world record in the M85-89 Division of 67' 02.00" set by Marvin Woodbury of St. George, Utah in 2011.
