Multimedia Iraqi-American artist Luma Jasim collaborates with musician Blake K. Green to produce an Artfort performance “Silence-Strangeness-Movement” that combines improvised live large-scale painting, video, narrative, and music at LED in Boise, Idaho on September 24, 2021.

Luma Jasim is an interdisciplinary Iraqi-born artist; immigrated to the US in 2008. Her education includes MA in Graphic Design from The University of Baghdad, Academy of Fine Arts, BFA in Visual Arts from BSU, 2013, MFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design, The New School, New York, NY, 2017.

Jasim is a recipient of the Juror merit award for the 2020 Idaho Triennial at BAM. She has completed many artist residencies and fellowships, including the MDOCS Storytellers’ Institute fellowship, NY (2019), Yaddo Residency, NY (2018), Surel’s Place Residencey, ID (2018), The MASS MoCA Residency, MA (2017), and The AAF (The American Austrian Foundation)/ Seebacher Prize for Fine Arts, Sulzburg, Austria (2017).

In 2018 her work was Shortlisted for The Tenth Passion For Freedom London Arts Festival, London, UK. Recently she has been nominated to participate at The Expo 2020 Dubai, UAE by Global Ties U.S.
