It is with a broken heart and an overwhelmed mind that I share the tragic news of my husband's death. Matthew Brad Grover, age 51, died by suicide on December 19, 2020.
He was our world-a remarkable human being with a calming, soothing presence and a kind, loving spirit. He was my life partner and best friend for 28 years and a proud dad to our sons Evan, 20, and Aaron, 17.

Born in CA in 1969, Matt lived in Big Bear, Pasadena, Long Beach and his favorite of all, the mountains above Santa Barbara, where he spent several years exploring and playing in the wild terrain with his brothers Chad and Sam. His love of the outdoors continued and defined who he was to all who knew him.

Matt fell in love with cycling when he was 16 years old. He soon turned to racing and had a very successful career both in the U.S. and in Europe.

Matt worked in the outdoor retail industry for the majority of his life. He was a gifted artist from a young age and at 43 he decided to pursue a career in art and fine furniture making. His work includes public art, sculpture, and custom furniture design and fabrication.

During our early years together Matt and I traveled extensively and always gravitated toward coastal areas and Idaho hot springs. When kids came along we devoted our time to raising them. Matt taught them to enjoy life and to love who they are. Watching his commitment to the kids deepened my love and admiration for him.

To us Matt was very special. Over the years I have heard hundreds of people describe him in a variety of ways. Some of my favorites are: MacGyver, Renaissance Man, humble, loyal, reliable, a mutant, the Grove, brilliant, a great artist, and a good guy.

It is difficult to imagine life without Matt, but his presence will remain in the minds and hearts of all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
